Report: Credit Suisse blocks $19 bln assets affiliated with Russia
ZURICH, Feb 13 (PRIME) -- Swiss bank Credit Suisse has frozen or blocked over a third of Russian assets registered in the country, or over U.S. $19 billion, newspaper SonntagsZeitung reported on February 12 citing a bank’s report.
According to the bank, a total of about $50 billion Russian assets are registered in the country.
Only about 4 billion Swiss francs of assets were frozen under sanctions slapped by Switzerland, while the remaining 13.6 billion francs are the assets that can belong to the people on blacklists of different states, to the Russian government or the central bank.
